From the 1st of January 2014 onwards, the Child Dental Benefits Schedule has been replaced by the Medicate Teen Dental Plan.
In keeping with our commitment to the dental health of the local community, Ascot Vale Smiles offer services under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule free of additional gap payments. We also offer a convenient way to claim using your Medicare card.
It is important to note that an examination appointment must first be attended by patients and their parents, before the performance of any dental work. (This includes radiographs). The treatment plan will be designed and shown to parents or legal guardians of a child before appointments are made for further treatment.
The CDBS includes $1,000 of benefits for dental services, being capped at that amount for a two-year period, consecutively. CDBS eligibility extends to children between the ages of 2 and 17 years (for a day in the calendar year). The child must be Medicare-eligible, or a member of a family receiving a pertinent Australian-government payment, for example, the Family Tax Benefit Part A.
Examinations, fissure sealing, x-rays, cleaning, root canals, partial dentures, and extractions are all included in the CDBS, though many services are subject to claim restrictions. These benefits are not available for orthodontic or cosmetic dental work. They also aren’t available for services provided as a part of hospital care.
